HOW TO REFER A PATIENT
When medically appropriate, provide a prescription stating “Cranial Prosthesis” and include the diagnosis or diagnosis code. The commonly referenced HCPCS code is A9282.
Request our referral instructions, or invite the patient to schedule a cranial prosthesis consultation directly. Coverage and documentation requirements vary by plan.
TRU handles consultation, measurements, solution selection, fitting, education, and documentation guidance. We communicate with the referring office when needed and appropriately authorized.
PATIENTS WE SUPPORT
Each consultation is individualized. A healthcare professional determines diagnosis and medical necessity; TRU provides hair-replacement services and related education within our scope.
Insurance plans commonly distinguish a cranial prosthesis from a cosmetic wig. When clinically appropriate, the prescription should identify the item as a cranial prosthesis and include the patient’s diagnosis or diagnosis code.
